Privacy Policy — Summary

Last updated: October 24, 2026

CompatShield respects your privacy. This is a short summary — for full details, see the full Privacy Policy linked from the site.

What we collect

  • Account info: name, email, company (if provided).
  • Billing & payment data: payment provider records (we do not store raw card numbers).
  • Usage & diagnostic data: plugin telemetry, server logs, scan results (can be anonymised).
  • Standard web server logs when a plugin or browser connects to our servers, such as IP address, request time and user agent.

Data from our WordPress plugins

Without a license key: the plugin may download a public list of known PHP vulnerabilities from our servers (for example, to show the PHP security notice). This request does not send any information about your website. The comparison with your PHP version happens on your own site.

After you activate a license key: to run scans and return results, the plugin sends the following to the CompatShield Portal:

  • Your license key and your website’s domain name.
  • WordPress version, PHP version, server operating system and server type (SAPI), and database type and version.
  • The name, slug and version of each installed plugin and of your active theme.

We do not collect your website’s content, your visitors’ data, or your users’ accounts. The plugin may also send the same license key and domain name when it retrieves your latest scan results from the Portal. Email notifications about scan results are sent from your own WordPress site to your site’s admin email address.

Other services the plugin uses: the plugin may contact the WordPress.org API and WPTide to look up the latest WordPress version and public compatibility information about plugins (plugin slug and version). These services are run by third parties and have their own privacy policies.
